Angel Food in trouble?

Not a lot of details are out yet, but federal and state law enforcement officials in Atlanta have descended upon the home office of Angel Food Ministries and sent employees home.

According to an Atlanta TV station, the FBI has served a search warrant on the home office. Details of the warrant were not available.

Angel Food Ministries is a national food purchase program with thousands of local distribution sites across the country. Families, regardless of age or income, can order boxes of food each month for less than half of the estimated value of the food. Each box sells for $30 and typically contains about $70 worth of food.

There are nearly two dozen distribution sites for Angel Food Ministries in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas.

I will post more details as updates become available.

  1. Yikes. Hopefully, this is not as bad as it sounds. This program really does offer a good choice for people on a budget…

  2. I would like more info if you have it. We have been offering Anglefood in our community for the last 3 months. It helps so many people.

    God Bless!!

    • There isn’t much “new” that’s been happening, other than an Atlanta reporter who has been following the paper trail. Neither the FBI nor the IRS is releasing the details of the search warrants. Angel Food Ministries did send out an email to host site coordinators letting them know that they are planning to continue “business as usual” practices, and that they believe the investigation is targeting a person or a few people and not the ministry itself.

  3. It is targeting certain persons more so than the “ministry” itself. There’s no doubt about that. I think the ministry would like to save itself from certain persons by the name of Wingo to be specific. Read about it here…
