Angel Food legal issues continue

Legal issues surrounding Angel Food Ministries, the non-profit food distribution program, continue:

Two breakaway board members will not sign an agreement Friday with Angel Food Ministries to end a lawsuit alleging the founding family enriched itself by millions of dollars at the nonprofit’s expense.

Angel Food, which provides food inexpensively to the poor in 39 states, is also under an FBI investigation for “financial irregularities concerning certain individuals,” the nonprofit has said.

An out-of-court agreement to placate board members Craig Atnip of Texas and David “Tony” Prather of Georgia, scheduled for Walton County Superior Court on Friday, fell apart this week. Atnip and Prather sued in February but agreed to resign in return for various financial controls being put in place.

A. Lee Parks Jr., an attorney for Atnip and Prather, withdrew the request to enforce any agreement Monday.
