Jimmy Carter stands up for women, leaves church

Jimmy CarterFormer President Jimmy Carter has apparently left the Southern Baptist Church after more than 60 years as a member, citing a difference in opinion over the treatment of women.

In an essay in The Age, Carter said that forcing women to be subservient to men “costs many millions of girls and women control over their own bodies and lives, and continues to deny them fair access to education, health, employment and influence within their own communities.”

  1. Thank you President Carter and the Elders! I have worried for years that young girls in the church are constantly told they can’t rather than told they can! Wouldn’t it be nice to hear the words…you can do this and you can do that. It is all about equality and the preservation of equality.

  2. Yippee, Yippee- one more liberal and false teacher leaving the Southern Baptist camp. Now go support Hamas and the way they treat women.
    What a dope!

  3. Yeah your right Judy–to hell what the Bible says…NOT

  4. I second the comment about Hamas. If Carter really supported women’s rights he wouldn’t support Middle Eastern terrorist governments whose view of women’s rights is back in the 7th century – that’s enlightened thinking!!!
